That Wonderful Book Store

by "T"

Many good memories of the Book Cache!

I was a lonely and unhappy young man who the US Army had placed in Anchorage and Fort Richardson to serve my last two years of service.

Always an avid reader, I discovered the Book Cache in downtown Anchorage, and found a refuge for my soul.

It was always my destination when in the city, and I spent many hours there as a process to heal my psyche from the grind of the military “life.”

It was a wonderful escape for me, and the most positive experience that I could rely upon in that time.

My love of literature was completed with a degree in that discipline and other subjects as well. Profound thanks to The Book Cache for maintaining my sanity in those days.

I shall never forget that wonderful store.

Walked to the Downtown Book Cache
by: Monika

Downtown!

Used to walk there and buy Peanuts paperbacks for 50 cents around 1970-72.

Still have them.

Thank You Book Cache
by: Bill

We would stop by downtown Book Cache on Sundays after church to pick up a copy of the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

No local Sunday paper back then that had a comic section. Early to mid 60s
