Peggy’s Airport Cafe and JollyVi’s

When I was a kid in the early 60s we would go to Peggy’s Airport Cafe a lot of times after church on Sundays.

And I still remember how good the fried chicken and freshly made pies were!

For a special treat like Christmas Eve dinner, we would head down the road towards Alyeska to a beautiful log cabin restaurant called JollyVi’s, named after a man and his wife who were the owners.

The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was beautiful with candles on the tables and a large picture window looking out over Turnagain Arm.

A Note from Anchorage Memories

Carol:

Thank you for sharing your story.

It's interesting how we remember special things like our favorite places in Anchorage to go to lunch after church... And Peggy's would be a special place indeed. Mary of Anchorage Memories remembers when her mom used to bake those delicious pies for Peggy's.

And JollyVi's must have been special because you remember the detail of the candles on the tables. And the view out the picture window sounds like a perfect place for dinner.

Thank you
