Great fun working on The Varsity Show
by Sandra Benzel
I had the good fortune to work on The Varsity show in 1963. I think it was my sophomore year.
Dancing every week and creating and presenting our own live commercials was so much fun.
My boyfriend at the time, Winton Wilcox, Jr., was the one who helped me get on the show, as West Anchorage High School's Drama President. Needless to say I was in every play in high school and made National Thespian Society easily.
The Varsity Show college scholarship was awesome as well. Thank you for the memories.
I remember, back in those times, the TV studio would have us teenagers go around and pick up the ballot boxes on voting day and bring them in for counting. I don't think we'd be able to do that now.
